Crystal Cruise Line Review
Crystal Cruise Line was founded in 1990, is owned by NYK Line of
Japan and based in Los Angeles,
Crystal Cruises offers the luxury niche cruise market on a large
scale with 940+ passenger ships.
Crystal Symphony - 940-passenger features a sushi
bar and a boardroom with wine cellar.
Crystal Serenity [2003]- 1,080-passenger ship
houses a modern children's facility called Fantasia; and a teen
center.
Pools
The ship has an indoor/outdoor pool as well as the standard centerpiece
pool. Keynote facilities, like the Computer University@Sea and the
spa, were expanded.
Cabins
Crystal Serenity offers a large number of balcony cabins; 85 percent
of all outside staterooms have verandahs.
Upper range cabins are plush and spacious, however, lower-level
cabins have a rather cramped feel.
Innovation
Crystal boast the biggest ships in the luxury class status as
well with many more options of entertainment, casinos, spa and fitness
facilities, activities and socializing.
Crystal was the first cruise line to offer boutique restaurants
with innovative dining room options. Its Italian and Japanese restaurants
onboard both Crystal Symphony and Crystal Serenity are both outstanding.
Make sure you make reservations as early as possible.
The latest dining innovation is the casual pool-deck dining at
The Trident Grill on set nights each voyage.
Cyber cafes and upgraded children's onboard facilities and activities
supplement normal cruise traditions of elegant afternoon tea, paddle
tennis, casinos, activities and assigned main restaurant dining.
Suitability
Crystal is marketing as a multi-generational family cruise line
of choice for well-heeled travelers. It appeals to a diverse group
of passengers for Alaska and, occasionally, Caribbean, itineraries.
Clothing onboard is dressy, particularly on formal nights. On other
nights, passengers tend to wear cocktail attire and elegant casual
during the day.
